Quetta, Pakistan | February 2, 2026:
Pakistani security forces have killed 177 Baloch militants in just 48 hours, marking the highest death toll in the region in decades. The operations followed a series of coordinated insurgent attacks in the southwest bordering Afghanistan, which killed at least 33 people, mostly civilians.
Officials said that about two dozen militants were killed overnight during multiple raids conducted by police and military forces targeting members of the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The raids began early on Saturday, January 31, in response to nearly 200 militants launching simultaneous suicide bombings and gun attacks on police stations, civilian homes, and security facilities across Balochistan.
The crackdown underscores the Pakistani government’s intensified efforts to counter insurgency and maintain security in the conflict-hit province, which has witnessed periodic violence for decades.
