J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat has clarified that the blast near Nowgam Police Station was entirely an accidental explosion. During the investigation of FIR 162/2025, a large quantity of explosive substances and chemicals was recovered from Faridabad on November 9–10 and securely stored in the open area of the police station as per procedure. For the past two days, the FSL team had been conducting forensic sampling of these materials. Due to their highly unstable and sensitive nature, the handling process was being carried out with extreme caution. However, around 11:20 PM last night, an unexpected accidental blast occurred. The tragic incident claimed 9 lives and injured 27 others.
