Saiyaara box office collection day 17: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda’s film to cross Rs 300 cr mark today; break these Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh records

Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara is showing no signs of slowing down. After facing fresh competition from Shazia Iqbal’s romantic drama Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, and Vijay Kumar Arora’s comedy Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, starting this Friday, the film did slip down to single digits over its third weekend. But it’s now on the verge of crossing the coveted Rs 300 crore milestone at the domestic box office.

Saiyaara to enter Rs 300 cr club today

On Sunday, its day 17 at the box office, Saiyaara added another Rs 8 crore to its collection. This was a massive drop from the second Sunday earnings of Rs 30 crore, but still an improvement on its Saturday collection of Rs 6.75 crore, which was a further improvement on its Friday earnings of Rs 4.5 crore. As per Sacnilk, the current domestic box office collection of Saiyaara stands at Rs 299.75 crore.

In all likelihood, Saiyaara will enter the Rs 300 crore club in India today. It may also beat the domestic lifetime earnings of blockbusters like fellow YRF release, Ali Abbas Zafar’s 2016 sports drama Sultan (Rs 300.45 crore), starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 period fantasy Padmaavat (Rs 302.15 crore), starring Ranveer SinghDeepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor.

Dhadak 2 lags behind Saiyaara box office

Meanwhile, another intense romantic drama backed by another big production house is making its presence felt at the domestic box office too. On Sunday, Dhadak 2 earned Rs 4.25 crore, an improvement on its Friday and Saturday earnings of Rs 3.5 crore and Rs 3.75 crore respectively. However, it’s no Saiyaara, which collected over Rs 80 crore in India over its opening weekend, as opposed to Dhadak 2’s Rs 11.50 crore.
