Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a unique “Yuva Shakti”–driven Budget, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering the poor, underprivileged, and disadvantaged sections of society.
Speaking about the Budget, the Finance Minister highlighted that it is guided by three key Kartavyas (duties):
Accelerate and sustain economic growth while enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and resilience amid volatile global economic conditions.
Fulfil the aspirations of the people by building their capacities and making them active partners in India’s journey toward prosperity.
Ensure equitable access for every family, sector, and region to resources, amenities, and opportunities for meaningful participation in the economy.
The Yuva Shakti focus of the Budget underscores the government’s efforts to harness the potential of India’s young population, drive inclusive development, and create opportunities for skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment generation. Experts say that such a framework aims to balance growth with equity, ensuring that India’s development is both rapid and inclusive.
The Budget 2026–27 is expected to set the tone for fiscal priorities, social welfare programs, and policy reforms that empower citizens while strengthening the nation’s economic resilience.
