Dhaka, February 2, 2026:
A Bangladesh court on Monday sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years in prison in two separate corruption cases linked to alleged irregularities in land allocation under a government housing project.

According to state-run BSS news agency, Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4, presided over by Judge Rabiul Alam, handed down the verdict. Ms. Hasina received five years’ imprisonment in each case, totaling ten years.

The court also sentenced several of her close relatives, including her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq and nieces Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, along with other accused individuals, in connection with the same cases.

Following the verdict, Solicitor Khan Md. Moinul Ahsan, representing the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), briefed the media outside the court premises in Dhaka. The cases relate to alleged misuse of authority in the allocation of land within a state-run housing project.

Sheikh Hasina, 78, was previously deposed from office, and the ruling marks a significant development in Bangladesh’s ongoing anti-corruption proceedings involving senior political figures.
