Parliament Monsoon session Day 18 LIVE: INDIA bloc mulls impeachment motion against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

New Delhi, August 18, 2025:
After four disrupted sittings of the Monsoon Session over Opposition demands for a debate on the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in Bihar, the Lok Sabha is set for a packed agenda today as it reconvenes after a week-long adjournment.

The government has listed a special discussion on India’s first astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Astronaut Shukla, and the broader role of the Indian space programme in achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The debate is expected to draw participation from across party lines, with many MPs likely to highlight India’s growing capabilities in space exploration and its global implications.

Jan Vishwas Bill on Agenda

In addition to the space discussion, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will introduce the Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Bill seeks to decriminalise minor offences in various legislations, aiming to promote ease of living and ease of doing business.

The move is being seen as part of the government’s broader reform push to reduce regulatory burdens, simplify compliance, and encourage entrepreneurship.

Parliamentary Session Context

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned on August 12, 2025, following repeated disruptions. Today’s proceedings are expected to provide some momentum to the Monsoon Session, which has so far seen limited legislative progress due to political standoffs.
